The Growing Demand for EVITP-Certified Electricians
A Growing Workforce Need
As the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program deploys billions in federal funding for EV charging stations across the country, the demand for qualified installers has never been higher. The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) estimates that 5,000 to 7,000 additional certified electricians are needed to meet NEVI deployment targets.
What This Means for Fort Mojave
In Arizona, electrician employment is projected to grow 18% through 2032, well above the national average. In neighboring Nevada, the growth rate is even higher at 31.6%. Average salaries for electricians in the region range from $60,328 in Arizona to $61,275 in Nevada.
For Fort Mojave tribal members completing the EVMojave training program, these numbers represent real career opportunities. The combination of EVITP certification readiness and hands-on EV infrastructure knowledge positions graduates to enter a rapidly expanding field.
Regional Investment
Over $17 billion in EV manufacturing investments have been announced across the Southwest, creating a ripple effect of demand for installation, maintenance, and operations personnel. The Arizona Department of Transportation Phase 2 NEVI program alone covers 31 locations, including sites along SR-95 near Fort Mojave tribal lands.
The EVMojave training program, funded through CEC grant ARV-25-015, is designed to prepare tribal members for these opportunities through free, self-paced online courses that align with EVITP curriculum requirements.
