Course Review & Practical Assessment
Course Review & EVMojave Fleet Driver Certification
Key Takeaways
- Electric vehicles provide instant torque and regenerative braking — different throttle and braking technique required
- Pre-trip inspections include: SoC check, tire pressure, cable condition, pre-conditioning, dashboard alerts
- Depot charging (overnight Level 2 during off-peak hours) is the most cost-effective AMPS fleet strategy
- High-voltage safety: never access orange-marked components; inform first responders immediately
- Desert conditions require 20% minimum buffer + 10% additional for Mojave heat on hot days
- Fleet telematics data feeds directly into CEC ARV-25-015 grant reporting requirements
EVMojave Fleet Driver Certification
Completing this online course is the first step. To receive your EVMojave Fleet Driver Certification, you must complete the following:
- Online course assessment: Pass all lesson assessments with a minimum score of 80%.
- Supervised driving log: Complete a minimum of 2 supervised driving hours logged and signed by an AMPS fleet manager. Each session must be documented using the log below. Pass criteria: complete log with minimum 2 hours AND no at-fault incidents.
EVMojave Fleet Driver — Supervised Driving Log
Complete one row per supervised session. Fleet manager must sign each row. Submit completed log to AMPS fleet operations to receive certification.
| Date | Vehicle ID | Route / Area | Distance (mi) | Duration (hrs) | Incidents / Notes | Fleet Manager Signature |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| None / At-fault / Non-fault | ||||||
| None / At-fault / Non-fault | ||||||
| None / At-fault / Non-fault | ||||||
| Total Hours: | Pass / Fail (2 hrs min + no at-fault incidents) | |||||
Pass/Fail Criteria: (1) Cumulative log hours >= 2.0 hours. (2) Zero at-fault incidents across all sessions. Any at-fault incident requires one additional supervised session before certification. Non-fault incidents are noted but do not disqualify.
Certification validity: EVMojave Fleet Driver Certification is valid for 2 years. Renewal requires completion of the AMPS refresher module and one additional supervised driving session.
Supervised Driving Assessment Criteria
Pre-trip inspection: Demonstrates complete EV pre-trip procedure — SoC check, tire pressure, cable condition, dashboard alerts, pre-conditioning.
Driving technique: Smooth acceleration, effective use of regenerative braking, appropriate speed in parking areas and pedestrian zones.
Charging procedure: Correctly connects to EVSE, verifies charging session initiation, practices proper cable management, and returns connector to holster.
Safety awareness: Uses horn in blind spots, yields to pedestrians, maintains safe following distance, identifies and responds to dashboard warnings.
Emergency protocol: Can articulate the correct response to HV system fault, thermal event, and first responder communication requirements.
